None of this would exist without the journey I am taking with my son A.J.. My son is a transgender man and the journey has not always been easy for either one of us. However on the other side now it is our mission to help bring resources to LGBTQ community. Unfortunately there are not a lot of resources for LGBTQ/transgender people or their support system of family and friends. We had nowhere to turn and no one to help us figure our way through this process. And trust me it is a process. This blog will hopefully be a place where people can share their journey, their challenges and their trials with people going through the same issues.
We are hoping through a common safe space we can address the issues of depression, contemplation of suicidal thoughts and help keep drug use at a minimum. Feeling alone and different is a major aspect of these transitions and we want all of you to know that you’re not alone.
A.J.‘s willingness to be truly who he is over all these years has taught me how important it is to be true to yourself regardless of what others around you may think. Talking with like-minded people is a major asset to this community. Please feel free to suggest any subjects that you want to speak about, to reach out with any questions you might have and to spread the word about Emerging Paths as a place for others to join in the conversation . We are looking forward to hearing from all of you and sharing our progress along the way.
